Walk with Us

June 7-12, 2025 - San Lucas, Honduras

Summary

We have a strategic 5-year partnership with 61Isaiah Ministries.

61Isaiah has numerous full-time missionaries on staff and sponsors several villages, a school, a radio station, a farm, and other ministries.

Their core values are: Prayer; Gospel Saturation; Education; Empowering Local Leaders; and Breaking Cycles of Poverty. Their motto is “Walk with Us.” More info at: 61isaiah.com

NHBC is working to build relationships with an indigenous people group in western Honduras called the Lenca in our adopted village of San Lucas. This will involve personal house visits (with a translator) and working with the Pastor Mauricio Romero and the local church (90% female and children).

The activities are primarily personal and relational. Under the leadership of local missionaries, we work with local church members but don’t do for local church members
(recommended: When Helping Hurts by Corbett & Fikkert)

There will be an agenda, but it is very responsive to local in-the-moment events.
You will share your personal testimony at least once.
You will pray aloud with a group

Logistics

The trip is 6 days

The total cost is ~$1500. This cost includes lodging and all meals while not traveling. Snacks are available for purchase daily

NHBC will sponsor 25% of this cost for any church member (more if this is your first foreign mission trip)

You must have a passport

You must attend at least 2 Gospel Conversation trainings

Special Challenges:
Travel. There is no timezone change, but the travel includes: 4 hour drive + 3 hour flight + 4 hour drive on sometimes rough winding narrow busy roads (the roads are much improved from prior years)

The hotel is safe. The city is safe (but don’t wander off alone - the poverty is extreme and unequal)

All the hotel food and bottled water are available and are safe. Package foods are safe. Tap water is not safe.
